June was a month full of Peonies along my fence.
A glimpse of one out of my sketchbook.
This year they lasted well into July.
They started out as a vibrant pink.
Everyday was a party of pinkness.
As the weeks went on the color started to mellow out.
Then we had a terrible storm and over half of them landed on the ground.
They were all hit hard and drooping.
A lot that were still on the stalk looked like this.
The few with petals began to take on an abstract form.
By the beginning of July,,,the last petals.
As of yesterday......
Reminds me of a jester´s hat.....
Looks like a moose head....
The new and the old.
What a difference a month and a half makes.

I love peonies, but I don't have any in my yard. Your photos are beautiful and your watercolor of the peopny is outstanding.

aaah yes, the wax and the wanes of a blossom...beautiful peonies. I miss mine. Hubby either mowed the beginning sprigs or weeded them out so many times we no longer have them but fortunately my neighbors retained theirs to enjoy :) Happy PPF!

I often notice that it rains when the peonies open shame tho that you got such a bad storm to batter them
