Autumn´s Glory

Autumn´s Glory
Watercolor 30 x 30 cm

Watercolor with border and frame.

A little further away....as it would be viewed in real life...standing back from the piece.
This is one of the many pumpkin watercolors I have been working on for the last two weeks.

Busy, Busy

I have been busy.

This is a sample of why I have been so busy.

All of the books above start out looking like this.
It entails a lot of measuring and cutting of the book boards.

The cover papers have been painted and as seen here,,,glued onto the book boards.
Here I have used book cloth at the hinge and hammered some eyelet holes.

The last step is to cut the paper used to fill the books.
Two covers are then sewn together with decorative cord and accent beads.

A view of the cords and beads.

Each cover paper is different. This is an example of some of my hand painted paper.

Each book has coordinating book cloth on the hinge.

This paper has a gesso resist and is painted and stamped with acrylics.

This paper is a handmade dyed cotton with added blue coloring. It feels fuzzy to the touch
and reminds me of fluffy clouds in a sky of blue.

Once the books are all finished...they are then packed into hand sewn, felt pouches.
Hope you enjoyed the show. These "little beauties" make great stocking stuffers.

Black and Orange

I have been painting lots of pumpkins lately with lots of leftover orange paint.
What`s a girl to do?

Sooooo, just for fun I painted orange strips of paint onto watercolor paper and made a few
tags/bookmarks.

All the leftover orange paint got used up and I
will attach these tags as little gifts onto my pumpkin watercolor pieces.

Considering that everyone is in the Halloween spirit lately,,,I thought I would add
these tags to the Black and Orange
themes over at Tag Tuesday and Something Completely Different.

By the Sea

By the sea...by the beautiful sea........

Many of us take our vacations by the sea. The sea air does everyone good.
The atmosphere by the sea is always relaxed and carefree.
I have so many sun-filled memories of living by the sea...be it the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific
Ocean or the North Sea.
These tags/bookmarks were done with watercolor crayons and water in sea-like shades
of pinks and corals.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Theme Thursday has chosen
Pink as their theme and I thought I would join in for the cause.

Plain and Simple

" It´s never DANGEROUS being who you are."

I also like the saying ....be yourself, everyone else is taken.

A plain and simple one layer card in beige and grey with a string of yarn.

The theme at Lots to Do this week is Plain and Simple,,,go have a look.

Not Just Another Pretty Face

"Beauty is not in the face....beauty is a light in the heart."
K. Gibran

A tag bookmark with one of the pretty faces from the stamp world. She is stamped onto
some of my watercolor paper which I also stamped with leaves, swirls and circles.

My wavy edge cut out again,,,,this is a scrap from one of my book binding projects.

Over at Wednesday Stamper the theme is "faces".....go have a look.

Geisha

Geisha ATC
The Geisha photo is a gel medium photo transfer onto some
handpainted paper which was stamped with cherry blossoms and bamboo.
Torn strips of handmade paper with fibers were adhered at the bottom and for a bit of accent....some green staples. The piece was then edged with red ink and gold antiquing wax
was rubbed into the surface.
Oriental is this week´s theme over at Lots to Do...go have a look.

Chase Life

"Chase Life"
A sprig of clover colored with watercolor crayons and sprayed with water.
For the background I used a piece of easy foam which I first pressed into a brick wall
and transferred onto watercolor paper with orchid ink. A few diamond holes were punched and a purple string threaded through two of them. Some copper paint was splattered and then backed onto black card stock and edged with copper and black ink.
Since everyone at Wednesday Stamper is in love with purple this week ,,,,I thought I would
add this to their collection.

Three Windows

"Play it again Sam"
A watercolor for a trumpet player named Sam.
I love how metals reflect their surroundings....here, it being the three studio windows.
I thought my tribute to Sam would fit right in with this week´s prompt over at

Beneath a Wondrous Star

A Christmas cat sitting beneath a wondrous star.
The cat is sitting in some new fallen snow and the card itself was painted
with a glaze of silver and light blue watercolor mixed with Schmincke Aqua Shine....which unfortunately, does not show up too well on photos. Aqua Shine can be mixed with any color watercolor and gives you an instant ice-like shine without being gaudy or over the top.
Illustration Friday...IF....the prompt this week being, beneath.

Handpainted Paper Sunday Freebie 3

Another handpainted paper Sunday Freebie.

This is the third Sunday
that I am posting some of my painted papers as a freebie for you
to use in your art projects, if you so desire. If you create anything using this
paper, I would love to see it.

The large fern was stamped with gesso and let to dry. This creates a resist effect when painted over with acrylics. A darker shade acrylic paint was used to stamp the smaller fern and little square element.

I will most likely use this paper as cover paper for one of my handbound books that I am in the process of binding right now.
The first two freebie papers can be found by clicking on the label...."Freebies" on the sidebar.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
