Only in My Dreams

Only in My Dreams

I eat apples like some people eat potato chips.
Only in my dreams do apples grow in the
shape of hearts....probably because I love to
hear that crunching noise as I bite down on a
good old Granny Smith, Delicious or a Pink Lady.

I will attach this to my niece´s Valentine´s Day
gift. It also happens to fit right in with a few
themes this week on various blogs. I will link them
and you can have some fun looking at all the other
entries.

Winter

Happy Winter

I used a copy of one of my winter watercolor paintings
and doodled in black ink, stamped some snowflakes,,,,
doodled in white ink, splattered some gesso and
edged it in white.

I then adhered it to purple, swirl stamped paper and
attached it to a piece of bookcover board.

Holes were punched in one corner where I attached
some ribbon and some metal decorations. To top
it all off I pasted an old snowman postage stamp
and called it finished.

Winter has given us a break here in Germany
but it is by no means done with us yet. I prefer cold
temperatures and am glad to see that this week´s
theme at Tag Tuesday is WINTER.

Pure Luck

Joshua Tree by Karine Swenson
Sometimes you have to ask yourself,,,do I feel lucky?
I definitely got lucky when I received this blog
giveaway from Karine over at Ponosmom.
Her blog is named after her sweet dog, Pono.
She included this postcard which she used
as an advertisement for a recent art show.

Original monotype by Karine Swenson

Karine lives on the high desert near Joshua Tree, CA.

She takes her inspiration from her wonderful desert life

by painting jackrabbits, cottontails, cacti, beautiful landscapes

and of course the joshua tree as well as abstracts and printmaking.

Original Monotype by Karine Swenson
This is a greeting card that she so kindly included.
On her blog she shows how she produces these
masterpieces.
Thanks a lot Karine for brightening my walls with
the essence of the California desert.

Springtime in January

SPRING
I feel like I am definitely jumping the gun on the seasons here.
I know a lot of our snow melted last weekend but
that doesn´t mean it´s spring.
These two tags came about because a bunch of my painting
friends and I are taking one of our friends out for a
surprise birthday dinner to a restaurant called
The Maganolia. I was in charge of making the card.
The photos came from a friend. I cut out the magnolias
and collaged them onto a handpainted background.
Added a strip of fabric along the top edge and finished
it off with a few stamps, papers and ribbons.

Gabi´s Tag
This is the tag we will give Gabi.
Here I added the knife, spoon and fork because on the back
it says,,,,one free dinner at The Magnolia.
Gabi loves to knit so I added and over abundance of fibers.
She can later use this as a bookmark and have a little
keepsake from all of us for her birthday in 2011.
This dinner came at the right time as these tags
fit right in over at Tag Tuesday with a bit of fabric.
Also at Wednesday Stamper where the theme is music.
Even at Take a Word where everything is beautiful.
And last but not least,,,Theme Thursday featuring spring.

A Few More

I have a few more things to show you from this past year.
This is a giveaway which I received from the generous Jean
over at Bluebird Paperie.
I was overwhelmed with Jean´s generosity.
On the top was a beautifully made card with
blue butterflies. Feast your eyes on all of this!

Then I started digging deeper into the box.
An accordian book kit, vintage papers, tags,
flowers, twine and an old map.

It just kept coming. It was an early Christmas.

Assorted stamps and ornamental chipboard letters.

Wasn´t this just a fabulous giveaway!
Jean really packed this box full of fun things.
Now you know why I need more storage space in
my studio. I want to hoard all of this!
Thanks so much Jean!

Lots of Twine

Divine Twine
I actually won some of this simply divine twine from
Karen B. So many wonderful colors. You know what
will be adorning my cards in the near future don´t you?

Karen was so kind and added velvet ribbons along with
this card that made me smile. Of course, she did not make
this with me in mind......who me....hoard embellishments,
NEVER!

Thanks Karen! Everytime I tie a bow I will think of you.

Dream

Dare to Dream
I made three cards using up some leftover
papers from a bookbinding project.

I used a piece of handmade natural fiber paper
as a base and placed embossed wildflower
motifs on top.

The theme this week at Wednesday Stampers
is Dream Big and Gingersnap Creations had a
good idea to use up leftover paper...go have
a look.
