Easter Nest

Handmade Easter nest for this year´s decorations.

I had my niece over last week and we made these nests.
We had a fun and sticky afternoon gluing these nests together with paper
we ran through the shredder.
We also started on some vases and small candle holders while we were at it.

See a short tutorial from Claudine Hellmuth here.
I am sharing this with Clever Chicks.
Hope you are all having a relaxing Sunday.

Leftovers

While cleaning up my studio...yes, I do that once in
a great while,....I found some dried up, leftover paint rags.

Of course I had to use them for something so I ripped them into
small squares.

Found some papers for layering.......

and they turned into some quote cards.
That was fun,,,especially the ripping part.

Have a great start to your week ahead.

I am sharing this with Paint Party Friday.

Stay Put

Stay Put
You can find some big olive trees in the Tuscany region of Italy.
Occasionally, you might see a majestic one standing amongst
a grove of much younger trees. It is a sight to behold.

This is my entry to The Summer of Color, Paint Party Friday and IF.

More or Less

Just Be You
I like geometric shapes. I added a bit MORE on this
card by doodling around each shape with my trusty
pilot pen. I like to doodle.

Here is how it looked before I jazzed it up.
A lot LESS without the black contrast.
I like both versions but I will let you decide for yourself.
What do you think?

This is my entry to Simply Less is Moore.

Flower Garden IV

Pink and Brown

Here is card number four in my watercolor
Flower Garden series.
Under the button cluster is a spray of
white vellum leaves and I used up some of
my patterned papers for the stripes.
You can click on the foto to enlarge it.

Three small punched circles were then
added along the bottom edge
and the large flower center is accented with
heavy body white acrylic paint. You can also
click on the foto for more detail.

You can see the first three cards in the series
by clicking here.

It just happens to be a Pink and Brown week
over at Theme Thursday...so this fits right in.

Wishing you all a sunny weekend.

Flower Garden II

Joy II

Another in the set of Flower Garden cards.

The button was sewn onto the card by knotting
the metallic thread in front of the button which
gives it a fluffy, flowering look made out of
the thin thread. If you missed the first in this
garden series you can see it here.

You may also remember the flower I made out
of gold thread on this tag.

We have finally gotten some decent rain so
my flower garden is thriving. Maybe you are
out working in your garden on this beautiful
Saturday.

This is my entry for Theme Thursday.

Flower Garden I

JOY

I have been working on a series of flower garden
cards using watercolors and stamps.
A white satin vine was added as well as
three tiny punched squares.
I think I have been inspired by all the
wonderful flowers in my own garden.
How does your garden grow?

Chocolate

Can you ever get enough chocolate?
This is a chocolate tag which I sent to
Anneke back in January.

She sent me this tag back in December and
since she loves the color green and comes
from the land of fine chocolate....I knew she
would appreciate such a tag.

You may also remember another
chocolate tag of mine.

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday.

Dream

Dare to Dream
I made three cards using up some leftover
papers from a bookbinding project.

I used a piece of handmade natural fiber paper
as a base and placed embossed wildflower
motifs on top.

The theme this week at Wednesday Stampers
is Dream Big and Gingersnap Creations had a
good idea to use up leftover paper...go have
a look.

Sheep Tag

Happy Ewe Year

I have been grappling over this color combination of green, yellow and brown since Tuesday. I finally had to resort to plundering my paper stash and luckily I found just the right color combination.

Then the next hurdle was to use this combination in a holiday theme. For the life of me, I just could not manage to produce a Santa or a Christmas motif using these colors. Today I decided to stop thinking about Christmas and went with the holiday of New Years.

I sure hope that Tag Tuesday likes this tag...as well as Theme Thursday and The Stampman.

Girly Girls Tell a Story

"Always remember that true beauty comes from within.......
from within bottles, jars, compacts and tubes."

This is a "girly girl" card.
I think these two beauties had fun going overboard. Reminds me of playing dress-up as a kid.
These painted up little faces "tell a story" of two young girls who want to grow up too fast.
At this age girls dream of being a grown up. The irony is.....in a flash....
in the blink of an eye.......you are. But hopefully, not wearing as much make up as these two.

Head on over to Stampotique Originals and Crazy Amigos for more fun.

Colors of Autumn

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."
A. Camus
Autumn is officially here but my question is.....where did summer go?

"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree."
E. Bronte
Autumn is one of my favorite seasons but.........
"In summer, the song sings itself."
W.C. Williams
I don´t know if I am ready to say goodbye to days like this.....

or this one either.

"A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing and the lawn mower is broken."
J. Dent
Pull up a chair and enjoy the summer sun. Isn´t this the perfect place to sit and watch the leaves turn?

Go take a walk in a lush, summer forest.

Eventually.....the days will grow cooler and the leaves will begin to fall.
Collect some fallen leaves and paint the underside with watercolor.

Press the painted leaf onto watercolor paper.

It is a fun and easy instant Postcard.
"Autumn, the year´s last, loveliest smile."
W.C. Bryant
Autumn´s Glory is the theme at Sunday Postcard Art this week,,,,go have a look.

A Great Teacher

" Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day
with a GREAT TEACHER!"
Nothing like a great teacher to make our "school days" memorable.
Here is to all the great teachers in the world that make our schools a better place.
I have had several teachers that made all the difference by making the learning experience
fun as well as challenging.

This is the handpainted watercolor and sepia ink paper used on the card.
I wrote some Kanji script ...added a little mark making and some white gouache.

The tag before it was mounted onto the card.

Tag Tuesday has a tribute to our school days this week and Lots to Do is showing distressed Tags.....go have a look.

Grand Finale

No fashion show is complete without a parade of all the pieces.

The Grand Finale....all that is missing is the Wedding Dress!

Anneke´s creation comes as close as I can get....go have a look at her stunning piece.

"Carry on"

In an Instant

As I created this last piece, I knew,,,in an instant,,,
that it would be perfect for Heidi Klum.

Trends come and go so quickly and from one day to the next,,,,,,
you´re either in or you´re out.

Considering that fact,,,and that somebody has to run the vacum and my frig is empty,,,,
now is as good a time as any to say, "Auf Wiedersehen" and get back to the business of living.

Project Runway can be seen in Germany on Viva.

This torso, as well as the last 3 torsos, were created with watercolor and ink.
They originated from a watercolor painting of trees and I carried that theme into the ink doodles.

Ginger Snap wants to see paint and Crazy Amigo has an open theme.. have a look and go create.
