Pantone Color of the Year for 2014

What a beautiful color isn't it....very radiant indeed.
all fotos Pantone Pinterest

I did not know that orchid was the color for 2014 when I made these
Xmas cards.

These trees were cut out of kleenex boxes.  At first I thought I would cut out EACH individual
mosaic stone,,,,well, after I cut out a few I quickly changed my mind and just cut out the
shapes of a trees.

The scraps after all that cutting.....or a big mess......

but after much painting, splashing and tearing it made me a nice stash of Xmas cards.

I am sharing this with Macro Monday 2, Sweet Shot TuesdayPaint Party Friday and Tuesday
Around the World.
Here is a link for Pantone too.

The color of the year for 2013 was emerald green and for 2012 was tangerine tango.

So tell me,,,,what do you think of this year's color of Radiant Orchid?

You fooled me as I was sure you handcut each mosaic element and I was astonished that you would do this - this has the same effect without the cramping of the hands!!!
Stunning creations, they most certainly have the WOW factor.
I remember how each year your share the colour for the following year, so hard to believe it is that time of the year already.
You sweet woman - Queen of Publications, not quite but you made me chuckle nevertheless. Always a thrill to see anything make it to print, never quite believing it.
Hope all is well and you are doing well with your preparations, still in Christmas card mode at this end with hurdles making me unable to achieve my enforced deadlines, oh well, I will get there, surely!
Wishes

Wow! This is a terrific project, Cynnie! When I saw the announcement of the color of the year, I thought it was a bit garish...maybe compared with that beautiful emerald green of last year. However, your mosaic trees are fabulous. Love the splatters, too. (We certainly don't have Kleenex boxes that pretty!)

Beautiful cards! Great idea to cut out the trees.
I'm not sure about pantone. I think I would like the color more if it was a bit brighter. I really liked the green of this year.

How clever and creative and beautiful. Radiant orchid sounds such an exotic name for a colour. But o so enchanting.

Love your cards--they turned out beautifully.
Looks like 2014 is going to my year: "Radiant Orchid" looks like watercolor's light cobalt violet, a color I cannot resist, that is on all my palettes, and that finds its way into most of my paintings!
